He was predeceased by: his parents, Ada Gazelle and John Hartley Smith; and his wife June. He is survived by: his sons, John Jr. (Shirley Kay) and Jeff (Jeanne); his grandchildren, Hayden (Ivy), Garrett (Claire), Katie, Jacob, Daniel (Paxton Lundquist) and Matt; his nephew Max (Jeannie Wallace); his great-nieces, Miranda (Joe Woods) and Marcie (Chris Hill); and also, Mackenzie, Gage and Gunner.
