She was predeceased by: her parents, Lenard Bengeman Henson and Nora Mae Henson (Stephens); her siblings, Dolly Dean Henson Repass (John), Bob A. Henson and Billy Joe Henson (Ann); her former husband John Walker Harwell; her husband Arthur Lee Barnes; and her daughter-in-law Becky Craig Harwell.
She is survived by: her son Joe Harwell of Tulsa; her grandchildren, Jeff Mode (Meygan) of Poteau, Jennifer Clark of Fort Smith, AR, Joseph Harwell (Amber) of Broken Arrow, Heather Speaks (Jason) of Inola, OK, Kimberly Hargrove (Jesse) of Glenpool, OK and Jason Harwell of Broken Arrow, OK; her great grandchildren, Bethany, Gavin Mode of Bryant, AR, Jaci Seals of Poteau, Blake Wagner of Poteau, Kiera, Zamiel, Justice Clark of Fort Smith, Bridget, Chloe, Landon Harwell of Broken Arrow, Jordyn Harwell of Stillwater, OK, Jarrad Speaks of Inola, Sable and Breandra Hall of Glenpool; her sister-in-law Frankie Henson of Ft Smith, AR; and her stepchildren, Roger Barnes of Wagoner, OK and Mary Storey (Keith) of Durant. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Verna to the American Heart Association.
