He was predeceased by: his parents, Frankie D. Cunningham and Shirley Gibson Cunningham; and his son Robert Franklin Cunningham II. He is survived by: his wife Carlene Simons Cunningham of Cherokee; his children, Keshia of Carmen, Brandon (Ericka) and Brandi (Ricky); the mother of his children Judy Robacker of Missouri; his siblings, Regena (David), Rhonda (Robert), Rita of Arkansas, Rex (Debbie), Roger (Melanie) and Richard of Cherokee; and his grandchildren, Remington, Zachary and Skylar. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
