He was predeceased by: his parents, L. P. "Ted" and Ora Melton (Reed); his wife JoAnn Melton; his daughter Shirley Melton; his sister Patsy Cantrell (Melton); and his great grandchild Jake Johns.
He is survived by: his significant other JoAnn Rushing of Chandler; his children, Randa (Paul Johns) of Kendrick Oklahoma and John Melton (Kelly) of Chandler; his sister Peggy Green (Melton) of Spring, Texas; and his grandchildren, Jeff Johns (Gina) of Chandler, Shane Johns (Ruth) of Bristow, Matthew Johns of Depew, Lacey Knight (Jeremy) of Harrah, Mariah (Travis Jarvis) of Davenport, Brandon Summerlin of Chandler, Ryan Summerlin of Olympia, Shaun Summerlin of Chandler and Chelsey Summerlin of Chandler. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was a member of many civic organizations and he loved doing the charity work associated with them.
