He was predeceased by: his wife Janis Cowan; his parents, Otis Pete Cowan and Lillie Pearl Cowan; his brother James M. Cowan; his parents-in-law, Zollie and Juanita Knight; his niece Lindsay Birch; and his nephews, Jason and Chance McBride.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Cowan of Cement and Carol Estes (Kim) of Cement; his grandchildren, Craig Estes of Cement, Deven Estes (Kelli) of Stuttgart, Germany and Shelby Estes of Chickasha; and his sisters, Barbara McBride (Hugh) of Norman, Ann Myers of Cement and Mickie Wolf of Cement. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
