He was predeceased by: his parents, Adam Lee and Esther Melrose (Galer); his wife Ruth Maxine Harmon; his stepmother Grace Melrose (Bruner); his son Fredrick Joseph Melrose; his siblings, Eldon Melrose, LaVern Melrose and Virginia Ryel; and his stepsiblings, Oval Booze, Nadine Harvey, Jean Jack and Joyce Krepel.
He is survived by: his son Ernest Melrose (Judy) of Kansas City, Missouri; his stepbrother Gary Booze (Doris) of Aline; and his grandchildren, Joseph Melrose (Rebecca) of Wakita, Cynthia Freeman of Wichita, Melissa Bates (John) of Turner and Scott Melrose of Lenexa, Kansas. He is also survived by six great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the mortuary to the Aline Christian Church.
