He was predeceased by: his parents, Raphael Wilson Hicks and Caroline Hicks (Jefferson); his siblings, Ray "Doc" Hicks, Betty Lou Hicks and Carol Williams; and his nieces and nephews, Gilbert Waldon, Dennis Waldon, Kathy Hicks and Towanda Florie.

He is survived by: his wife Sue Hicks; his children, Charolette Cox, Tina Rideout (Wayne), Cynthia Young (Erik) and Randal Hicks, Jr. (Mike Turner); his grandchildren, Catrina Cook, Zackary Cox, Shaun Hicks, Donald Rideout, Brandon Rideout, Kayedence Young and E. J. Young; and his great grandchildren, Aurora Hicks, Ashlyn Hicks, Andrew Hicks and Henley Rideout.
