He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Luitjens and Margarete Luitjens; his former wife Patricia Sue; his brother LeRoy; and his sister-in-law Rose Luitjens.

He is survived by: his wife Karen; his daughters, Kimberly Medrick (Dave) and Tammy Leonard (Shawn); his grandchildren, Alysha Medrick, Aaron Medrick (Brittany), Elizabeth Koppe (Matthew), Zachary Medrick (Sara), Michael Phillips and Wyatt Phillips; and his great grandchildren, Maverick, Ethan, Grayson, Hadley and Ryker.
