He was predeceased by: his parents, Sid Starr and Rissie Jane Starr (Henderson); his former wife Dean; his daughter Leta Starr; and his great grandchildren, Destinee Starr, Braston Starr and Opal McConnell.
He is survived by: his children, LaDenna Gale Edwards of Broken Arrow, Sandra Jane McConnell of Broken Arrow and Emmitt Oliver Starr, Jr. (Karen) of Broken Arrow; and his grandchildren, LaDenna Michelle Briscoe, Virgil Ryan Edwards (Brandy), Mickel McConnell (Nichole), Stephanie McConnell, David McConnell, Farrah Seay (Matthew), Desiree Keomany (P. K.), Jerry McCroskey (Jennifer), Brandi Cook, Amanda Moore and Jeffrey Moore. He is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
