He was predeceased by: his parents, Coy Upshaw and Bonnie Lee Upshaw; and his siblings, Dalton Upshaw and Glenda Cheatham. He is survived by: his wife Pat Upshaw; his children, Steven R. Upshaw and Diana L. Rivera; and his sisters, Rita Haynes and Carolyn Hamlin. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
