He was predeceased by: his parents, Faye McKinney (Whittiker) and David F. McKinney; his son Steaven Ray McKinney; his brothers, Larry McKinney and David McKinney; and his grandson Joe Cornett.

He is survived by: his wife Wilma; his children, Brian McKinney (Lynn), Tim Woody (Tammy) and Diane Cornett (Tim); and his sister Anita Lawton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
