She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph "Joe" Ezra Benson; her parents, Otto and Lydia; and her siblings, Harold, Erwin Priebe and Esther Boling.

She is survived by: her children, Christina S. Denney of Madison, Donna of Blackwell, Jerry Field of Blackwell, Mike of Blackwell and Linda Shepherd of Blackwell; her grandchildren, Jason Shepherd, Brindan Shepherd (Lori), Kristen Zimmerman (Zack), Jordan Field (Elizabeth) and Landon Field; her great grandchildren, Max Shepherd, Kate, Bret, Matt Shepherd, Lauren, Drew Zimmerman, Jack, Caroline and William Field; and her sister-in-law Doris Orahood of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by several nieces and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made in Erma's memory to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma.
