He was predeceased by: his parents, David Preston Jernigan, Sr. and Lula Mae Jernigan (McFarland); his son Joe Jernigan; his siblings, James Sydney Jernigan and Nella Esbendo; and his parents-in-law, Slim and May Allison.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy; his daughter Zina Jernigan; his brother Johnny Jernigan (Nora); his sister-in-law Mary Jernigan; his grandchildren, Jessica Patterson (Tanner) and Dustin Elliott; and his great grandchildren, Ryen, Jaxen, Mark, Brantley, Blake and Jaylyn. He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews.
