He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Smith and Clara May Smith (Thompson); his wife Kay Haris; his siblings, Minnie Stafford, Step Smith, John Smith, Margaret Foster, Alma Fisher, Ermond Smith, Charles Smith and Gerald Smith; his son Bobby Bowen; his grandson Robert Bowen; and his great grandchild Kiara Brown.
He is survived by: his children, Angie Carman, Debra Neumann (Mike), Candis Brown (Tony) and John Bowen (Faye); his sister-in-law Betty Smith; his close friend Kathie Cron; his coffee buddy Ken Fuqua; and his pet Goldie. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
