He was predeceased by: his parents, Irene Sampson (Mose) and Edward Sampson; his daughter Kara Renee Sampson; and his siblings, Eddie, Dennis, Dale Sampson and Queena Hayes.
He is survived by: his wife Katherine Joyce Sampson; his children, Jared Ross Sampson (Hattie Louise Sampson), Christopher Jim Sampson, Candace Michelle Sampson and Chellsee Ann Sampson; his grandchildren, Tayenn Ka'Ron Sampson, Teyah Eelece Sampson, Tranaya Kenley Sampson, Kendrin Anthony Sampson, Everly Rose Sampson and Emma Louise Sampson; his siblings, Steven Mose and Barbara Shoemaker; his uncle Bobby Thomas (Luella Thomas); and his aunt Eliza Thomas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
