He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Denton and Helen Denton; and his brothers, Bob (JoAnn Denton), James (Mary Sue Denton), Charlie Denton and Calvin Upton.

He is survived by: his children, Sondra Kay (Mike Vaughn) of Lindsey and David Lee (Annie Denton) of Apache; his wife Frances Heilaman; his grandchildren, Jared (Paige Denton), Kaylee Denton and Kyler Thurman of Apache; and his siblings, Louise Upton-Huckleberry (Jerry) of Apache, Linda (Wayne Kemper) and Jerry (Dena Denton) of Apache. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
