Leroy Harrison Obituary

Leroy Harrison of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed away with his family by his side Friday, November 6, 2020 in Binger, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years and 4 days old after breaking his hip 3 weeks ago.

Leroy was born November 2, 1930 at the family farm north of Square Top in Anadarko to Roy and Ardena (Callaham) Harrison. He was the baby of 10 children and was doted on and spoiled rotten by his older sisters.

Leroy joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged in 1950.
In 1949 he married Billie Jean Campbell and to this union, Linda Lee was born in 1951.
In 1958 he married the love of his life, Rita Merle Harris in Lawton, Oklahoma. They were married 52 years before she preceded him in death in 2011. To this union were born Barton Lee and Trisa Ann. The family moved west of Anadarko in 1973 where he resided until his passing.

Leroy joined the Anadarko Fire Department in 1959 and worked there until he retired. He also worked and retired from Golden Peanut Company in Anadarko.
Leroy and Rita were avid Square dancers and traveled and made many friends during their time with the Patty's Squares and Darko Travelers.
He was also a proud member of the local I.O.O.F. club for many years.
In his final years he looked forward to playing Dominoes every day at the Senior Citizens Center and loved to play skipbo with his grandson Aaron.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Rita, son Bart, brothers, Elward, Uell, Alvida, Milton and Bryce. Sisters, Agnes (Trixie), Evelyn, Deola and Martha Dean (Janie).

He is survived by daughters, Linda Bucci and Trisa Gattenby. Grandchildren Paul and Dennis Van Dyne, Tracey Fernandez (John), Shayna Green (Caleb), Jadyn Nowell (Chris), Micah Quiver (Taylor) and Aaron Gattenby. Great Grandchildren, Travis, Ashley, Mariah, Sadie, Gunner, Ian, Gage, Charlee and Cameron. Great Great granddaughter, Meilani. Also survived by sister in law Donna Knight (Jimmy) and Janeen Harrison and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be Tuesday November 10 at 11 am in the Smith Funeral Home chapel with burial in Memory Lane Cemetery Anadarko, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko.
