It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ernest William Schmidt of Alva, Oklahoma, born in Cherokee, Oklahoma, who passed away on July 25, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Roland Ferdinand and Laura Marie Schmidt (Kirmse); his former wife Karen Johnson; and his brother Larry Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Sally Bragg of Alva; his children, Curt Schmidt (Tina) of Stillwater, Pamela Dilbeck (Rick) of Yakima and Mark Schmidt (Kim) of Dacoma; his stepsons, Anthony Bragg (Rhonda) of Oregon and Andrew Bragg (Laurie) of Piedmont; his sister Arlene Manning of Lowell, Arkansas.; his grandchildren, Macy Couldry (Evan), Caylie Schmidt (Brandon Vierling), Corbin Schmidt, Jeremiah Bragg, Ryan Dilbeck (Khatya), Rachel Dilbeck, Mason Bragg, Ainsley Bragg, Layla Schmidt, Zoey Schmidt, Kelcy Cannon, Hannah Valdez and Megan Valdez; and his great grandchildren, Aiden Couldry, Marcus Couldry, Layla Couldry, Brylee Vierling, Korbyn Vierling and Trace Cannon. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
