He was predeceased by: his parents, Burney (Posey) and David P. Harris, Sr.; his brothers, D. P., Jr. and Brian Posey; and his grandsons, David and Ethan.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Harris (Jones); his children, Kathy (Chris Wilson), Rick (Janet Harris) and Rob (Gina Harris); his grandchildren, Megan, Sam Wilson, Taylor, Blake Harris and RJ Harris; his sister-in-law Lois Harris; his niece Libby Cole; and his nephews, Randy, Mike and Doug Loyd.
