He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Grimes, and Virginia Grimes, Sr.; his brothers, Otto Grimes, Jr. and Charlie Grimes; and his daughter Cynthia Grimes.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Grimes; his children, George Grimes, Jr. (Joyce), Gene Grimes (Kelly), Sandy Mayle (Randy), Sherrie Grimes (Donnie), Stacy Rogers, Gregory Grimes and Robin Robinson; his sisters, Mary Kuhn and Florence Dodd; and his pets, Jake and Gabby. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
