He was predeceased by: his parents, John Zemko and Catherine Lapushansky Zemko; his son William D. "Billy" Zemko; his brother John Zemko, Jr.; and his son-in-law Terry Ray.

He is survived by: his friend Youngstown Historian; his wife Ruth Damore Zemko; his daughters, Karen Ray of Youngstown and Christine Gerst (Robert) of Canfield; his grandchildren, Kaylee Ray, Alyssa Ray, Lillian Gerst and Robert Gerst III; his sister-in-law Terry Zemko of Niles; and his cousin Michael Zemko (Bill). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
