He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Yanek and Ceil Yanek (Eppley). He is survived by: his wife Diane M. Yanek; his sons, Daniel Yanek (Heather) of Boardman, David Yanek (Amanda) of Columbiana and Chase Yanek; and his brothers, Don Yanek (Kathy) of The Villages and Gene Yanek (Helen) of Bluffton.
His contributions to the genre were recognized when, in 1989, he was part of the Penn Ohio Polka Pals Grammy Nominated Album, marking one of the proudest achievements of his musical career.
