It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Pearl Hodge of Youngstown, Ohio, born in Butler, Georgia, who passed away on February 14, 2024, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jack Johnson and Beatrice Smith Johnson; her husband James Hodge; her children, Mioma Patricia Jones and Charles Dewey Hill; and her brothers, William Thomas and Charlie Johnson.
She is survived by: her daughter Gardenia Johnson-Persons of Columbus; her grandchildren, Myellia Studymine of Youngstown, Terrance of Columbus, Teddy Persons of Columbus, Gerald Jones of Columbus and Tony Jones Sr.; her great grandchildren, Adriane of Youngstown, Adrianna of Youngstown, Ayris Jones of Youngstown, Mioma Gore of Youngstown, Leslie Jones of Columbus, Shamari of Columbus, Trinity Persons of Columbus and Tony Jones Jr. of Youngstown; her great great grandchildren, Aliana of Youngstown, Alani Sanchez of Youngstown, Aleena of Youngstown and Ameena Gore of Youngstown; her sister Martha Johnson Groome; her nieces and nephews, Will Johnson, Lionell Nelson, Veronica Groome and Denise Johnson; and her close friends, Earlis Mack, Pearl Jones, Lovie Mickel and Victor Thomas. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
