He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Thomas and Olga Bunetta Thomas; his wife Carol Jean Thomas; his sister Jane Ann Thomas; and his son-in-law Alex J. Shaffo.
He is survived by: his children, Jorgine Shaffo of Youngstown, Jennifer Byers (Ed) of Poland, Shelley Larson (Steve) of Fort Pierce, Fla., Kevin Thomas (Delores) of Chicago, Ill. and Bryan Thomas (Michelle) of Tampa, Fla.; his siblings, Arlene Simechak (Mike) of Alabama and David Thomas (Barbara) of Arizona; his close friend Frank Crucian of Houston, Texas; and also George Scott (Rhonda) of Ellsworth. He is also survived by niece and a nephew; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
