He was predeceased by: his parents, John Martinko and Mary Janci Martinko; his wife Martha Podolsky; his siblings, Leonard, Donald Martinko and Lucille Kramer; and his son-in-law Regis Leskovec.
He is survived by: his children, Janice Leskovec-Steinmaus (Mike), Charles Martinko (Peggy Golick) and Lorrie Nelson (Joseph); his stepgrandsons, Mike Leskovec, Ron Leskovec and Nick Nelson (Stephanie); his stepgreat-grandchildren, Piper and Kaia Nelson; his sister Elizabeth Thomas of Youngstown; his sister-in-law Georgieann Martinko; his sister Bette Dzuroff; and his close friend Eleanor Yacko of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church or St. Vincent de Paul Society in John's honor.
