He was predeceased by: his parents, Rose Merritt (Mick) and Wesley Merritt; his brothers, James and Wesley Merritt; and his son-in-law Michael Martauz.
He is survived by: his children, Howard Merritt Jr. (Shirley) of Canfield, Diane Sveth of Canfield and Nancy Martauz of Boardman; his grandchildren, Michael Merritt (Gretchen) of Canfield, Matthew Merritt (Jing) of Beijing, Megan Merritt of Cleveland, Anthony Sveth of Austintown, Tara Liebowitz (Jeff) of Brooklyn, NY and Lauren Martauz (Maxx Guerreri) of Boardman; and his great grandchildren, Riley Merritt, Haydyn Merritt, Matthew Merritt, Sophia Merritt, Audrey Liebowitz and Aidan Merritt.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to the Youngstown Shrine Club's children's hospital fund, P.O. Box 302, North Lima, OH 44452.
