He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Tomlin and Bertha Tomlin-Johnson; his stepfather Lewis Gus Johnson; and his sister Margaret Tomlin-Berger. He is survived by: his children, Debra Staples, Carla Tomlin and Gary Tomlin; his grandchildren, Tiffany Mays, Chi'Mere Thompson (Jonah), Trey Tomlin and Richelle Burgess (Travis); his niece Kimberly Peaks-Ezell (Carl "Woods" Underwood); and also, Pamela "Pam" Carr and Debra "Debbie" Sharp.
