He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Ostavitz and Mary Sawron Ostavitz; his grandson Michael Uhran; and his siblings, Joseph, Eugene, Theodore Ostavitz, Nell Vigarino, Jean Surkalo, Helen Cordova, Betty Buchanan and Marie Barita.

He is survived by: his children, Edina Ostavitz Jordan and Edward J., Jr. Ostavitz (Jackie) of Florida; his foster children, Joe Varone (Anna) of Youngstown and Anita Kessler of Youngstown; and his grandchildren, Sherri Lowry (Bill) of McDonald, Edward J. III Ostavitz (Maria Teresa) of Mississippi, Brian Ostavitz (Stacy) of Mississippi, Brock Ostavitz (Karen) of Andover, Charlene Salanci (Chad) of Florida and Carl Ostavitz of Williamsfield. He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
