He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Sr. Underwood and Lessie Henry Underwood; his son Lonyell R. Salter; his brothers, Emmett Underwood Jr. and Merrill Underwood; and his sister-in-law Darlene Underwood.
He is survived by: his wife Carol A. Benson; his daughters, Latrese Sims (Andre) of Warren, Adrienne Morgan of Hubbard, Vitta Morgan-Hudson of Youngstown and Chona Underwood of California; his granddaughter Gabrielle D. Blake (Toussaint) of Howland; his sister Mary Ann McGary (Tom) of Monroe, NC; and also Gabrielle V. L. Blake of Howland. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a. m. Guests are asked to wear masks.
