He was predeceased by: his siblings, Marlene Shaffer and David Pahel; and his granddaughter Starr Torres. He is survived by: his children, Vicki Woods, Danielle Hamill, Jennifer Hamill, Laura Pahel, Kyle Thorpe and Daniel Pahel Jr.; and his sisters, Vicki Steinbeiser and Darlene Jennings.
