He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Mitchell, Sr. and Margaret M. Robinson; his stepmother Hattie Mitchell; his brother Richard Mitchell; his wife Ruth E. Mitchell (Miller); and his sons, Charles E. Mitchell and David L. Mitchell.
He is survived by: his daughters, Debra J. Mitchell of Newark and Susan C. Clark (Rick) of Texas; his daughter-in-law Debbie L. Mitchell of Newark; and his siblings, Robert Mitchell and Peggy. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
