With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Shirley Rae Filson of Xenia, Ohio, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Shirley Rae left this world on February 3, 2025 at the age of 88, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Francis Cowen and Ethel Cowen; her husband Paul Filson; her son-in-law Danny DeLawder; her grandson Jeremiah DeLawder; and her sisters, Arlene Anderson (Lewis) and Doris Doss (Alonzo).
She is survived by: her children, Linda DeLawder of Wilmington, Cristi McClellan of Kettering, Lori Filson (Tom George) of Centerville and Mark Filson of Centerville; her brother James Cowen (Donna) of Phoenix, AZ; her grandchildren, Sandy DeLawder, Elizabeth DeLawder, Ryan Lopez-McClellan (Briauna), Wesley McClellan, Alexa McClellan, Jack Filson and Katie Filson; and her great grandchildren, Johnny, Justin DeLawder and Elena Lopez-McClellan. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45432). A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to DayCity Hospice.
