He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Hess and Margaret Evers Hess; and his wife Elizabeth M. "Betsy" Hess. He is survived by: his children, Beth Anne Hess and Roy E. Hess, Jr. of Xenia; his grandchildren, Nora Banfill, Brooke Banfill, Aaron Hess and Gillian Hess; and his sister Diana Beam (Tom). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends.
