He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Filson and LaVerna Filson (Gastiger); his brothers, James Filson and Lawrence "Bud" Filson; and his grandson Jeremiah DeLawder.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Filson (Cowen); his children, Mark Filson and Lori Filson; his stepdaughters, Cristi McClellan (Chris) of Kettering and Linda DeLawder of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Jack Filson, Katie Filson, Ryan, Wesley, Alexa McClellan, Elizabeth Lynch and Sandy DeLawder; and his great grandchildren, Johnny DeLawder and Justin DeLawder. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
