He was predeceased by: his parents, George Grooms and Margaret "Maggie" Grooms; his wife Lena Grooms (Lyons); and his siblings, Harry, Harold Grooms, Marjorie Hilling (Grooms), AnnaMae Douthett (Grooms), Helen Hicks (Grooms) and Barbara Grooms.
He is survived by: his children, Douglas Grooms (Freda) and Diane Schum (Joe); his granddaughters, Samantha Willis (Brandon), Sara Crook and Linda Crook; and his brothers, Terry and Charles Grooms. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
