Gregory Scott Evans Obituary
Gregory Scott Evans (Greg) age 55 of Xenia died unexpectedly Monday, January 17, 2022 at his residence. He was born March 14, 1966 in Midland, Texas, the son of Martha Gwen Evans and Ralph Edward Evans. He graduated from Chattanooga City High School in 1984. Greg had been employed by Toward Independence since February 2000 as a Direct Support Professional.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Evans, and stepfather, Larry Wilson; his stepmother Terri Evans and two half-sisters and brothers-in-law Leslie Evans Curtis (John Curtis), nephews Zachary & Jackson; Lindsay Evans Lazaroff (Danny Lazaroff), nephew Caleb and niece Abby, and by his co-workers at Toward Independence.
Greg owned Mind’s Eye Photography in Chattanooga before relocating to Ohio and remained a passionate photographer. While in Chattanooga, he was published in Contemporary Southern Poets of 1997, the works of 20 Southern Poets of the United States.
Greg was an avid cyclist and twice completed the 100 mile Three States-Three Mountains Century Ride from Chattanooga, as well as the Hilly Hundred in Ohio.
Greg loved music, especially Warren Zevon, Steve Earle, John Prine and Motörhead. He was also part of the Letterman Group, a devoted collective of David Letterman fans. Greg traveled to New York twice to attend The Late Show with the group, including Dave's last show in New York, when they attended as VIP's.
When he passed, Greg had enjoyed more than 29 years of sobriety.
