He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurman Lawson and Junie Lawson; his son Kenny Lawson; and his siblings, Rena Rittenhouse (John), Elmer Lawson and James Lawson (Faye).
He is survived by: his wife Loretta Lawson; his children, Gary Lawson Jr. (Kelly) of Xenia, Richard Lawson (Lola) of Jamestown, David Lawson of Xenia and Billy Lawson (Anna) of Wilmington; his sisters, Ruth Roberts (Paul) of Huber Heights and Sharon Neace (Hubert) of Jamestown; and his nephews, Lowell Lawson and Roger Lawson. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
