It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Eugene John Schmitt of Xenia, Ohio, born in Rochester, New York, who passed away on December 9, 2020, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schmitt and Florence Meyer Schmitt; and his siblings, Doris, Melvina Schmitt and Donald Schmitt.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Lu Schmitt (Russ); his children, Martha Schmitt of Beavercreek, OH, Mark Schmitt of Xenia, OH, Dr. Chris Schmitt of Cloverdale, OR, Eric Schmitt, Amy Schmitt of Beavercreek, OH, Mary Beth Brandeau (Schmitt) of Papillion, NE, Suzanne Schmitt and Damian Schmitt of Kelseyville, CA; and his brother Kenneth Schmitt (Diane) of Rochester, NY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Xenia FISH Food Pantry, 774 Cincinnati Ave., Xenia, OH, 45385, in his memory.
