He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Patricia; his daughter Sassy; his grandchildren, Dixie DeBorde (Bill), Robbin Matheny, Quentin Vanbibber (Cassie), Adam Vanbibber (Jenni), Heather Langan (James), MJ Hoefler (Lindsay), Michael DeBorde (Ashlee), Amanda Kitchen (Jeff) and Cody Brannum (Emily); his great grandchildren, Austin, Abbi, Hailey, Ashton, Alaina, Raegan, Logan, Mia, Mason, Lincoln, Penelope, Emersyn and Luke; his brother Bruz Gentner (Betty); his parents, George Gentner and Beulah Gentner; his brother Johnny Gentner; and his niece Debbie Sue.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Emerson's name to Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Lighthouse Baptist Church building fund, Greater Dayton Hospice or Eric Woodworth Missionary.
