She was predeceased by: her parents, Ada Blythe and Oscar Bowen Sr.; her stepfather Walter Merritt; her son Richard M. Nooks; her sister Mary "Midget" Norris; her stepsister Winlan "Boots" Headen; and her husband Melvin L. Nooks.
She is survived by: her children, Rita Caldwell and Marvin Nooks; her brother Oscar Bowen Jr.; her grandchildren, Regina Morton, Kelly Muhammad and Janun Vincent Nooks; her great grandchildren, Dante Wilkerson, Trinity Morton, Kalil Muhammad and Kaya Muhammad; and her niece Sharon Lockhart. She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
