He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Mowrer and Edith Mowrer (Smith); his daughter Robin Acosta; and his siblings, Richard, Welker, Robert, Roger, Donna Ogi, Marjean Myers and Charlene Mowrer.

He is survived by: his wife Sara; his children, Melinda "Mindy" (Rod Dodgen), Jeffrey James (Kelly Mowrer), Todd Lester (Carol Mowrer) and Amy Kay (Richard Todd Wishon); and his sister Edith LaVonne Steele of Loveland, OH..

Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Canaan Lutheran Church (10851 Friendsville Rd, Creston, OH 44217). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
