He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Thompson and Mary Thompson (Lautzenheiser); his sister Joan Stebelton (Vernon); his sister-in-law Margi Beem-Miller; his daughter Laura; and his pet Scamp.
He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Andrew (Alyssa) of Indianapolis, IN, Meredith (Bill) of Wooster, OH and Christopher (Annie) of Salem, MA; his grandchildren, Davis, Riley Anne, Max, Juliette, Sophie and Lucy Thompson; his brother-in-law Bruce Beem-Miller; his sister-in-law Amy Phillips-Beem; and also Germany. He is also survived by niece.
