He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert McCreary and Enid McCreary (Monway); his former wife Kanda Kelly McCreary; his grandson James Chapman Newberry; and his brother Tracy McCreary.
He is survived by: his wife Karen S. McCreary (Plantz); his children, Mendy Combs of Marysville, Bryan "Doug" McCreary (Tish) of Cable, David Avery (Tina) of Mechanicsburg, Rick Avery (Tanya "Sis") of Woodstock and Jeffery Whitt of Woodstock; his grandchildren, Jacob, Madison, Abigail, Dustin (Liz), Kaylee, Thomas, Tyler (Savannah), Jeremy, Rodney, Levi, Aiden, Drake and Masun; his great grandchildren, Shelby, Olyvia, Riley, Davie, Axeton and Nathan; and his brother David McCreary of Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with expenses.
