Steve Gelety Obituary
Steve Gelety, 90, of Wintersville died Sunday, February 13, 2022 at the Laurels. He was born August 12, 1931 in Berwick, PA. He is the son of the late Peter and Sophia Prochera Gelety. He is also preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Harris Gelety; brothers Nicholas, John, Peter Gelety; sisters Jenny Nagy, Rose Henger and Mary Janasik.
Steve was employed at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel as an engineer for 22 years, he was assistant administrator for Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation and was self employed since 1991 as a third party administrator for Workers Compensation. He was also on the Board of Directors for Community Action Council, a member of the Weirton Elks Club and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and its St. Francis Society. Steve was also the legislative and political liaison for United Steelworkers Local 1190 for 21 years.
Surviving are two sons Jeffrey of Leesburg, FL and Steve (Beverly) of Carey, NC; two daughters Pamela (Gary) Ferenz of Medford Lake, NJ and Victoria Harman of Worthington, OH ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 3-6 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be held Thursday at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Fort Steuben Burial Estate. A vigil service will be held Wednesday at 3 pm.
