He is survived by: his wife Mary E. Grote of Willshire, Ohio; his son Kevin W. Grote (Deb) of Van Wert, Ohio; his sister Mildred Strayer of Decatur, Ind.; and his granddaughter Courtney Grote.

Preferred memorials are to the Zion Improvement Fund.
