He is survived by: his wife Linda Kay Morrison Gates of Willow Wood; his sons, Matt Gates (Tracy) of Grimesland, NC., Steve Gates (Lisa Henry) of Gallipolis and Chris Gates (Melissa) of Willow Wood; his grandchildren, Matthew Gates of Grimesland, NC., Travis Gates (Kalli) of Willow Wood, Hannah Gates of Willow Wood, Austin Gates of Grimesland, NC. and Jaxon Gates of Willow Wood; his stepgrandson Josh Craft (Lexie) of Proctorville; and his siblings, Creighton Hill of West Wood, KY., Cranston Hill (Kathy) of West Wood, KY., Kim Grant (Dennis) of Wurtland, KY., Pam Herzog and Cindy Gates.
