He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Kavcic and Maria Kavcic; and his brother Silvo Golja of Slovenija. He is survived by: his spouse Zdenka; his children, Tony (Natasa) and Tanja (Jay); his grandchildren, Kyle, Carter McAbier, Peter, Andy and Jake Kavcic; and his siblings, Mira Rutar and Marko Golja. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
