He was predeceased by: his parents, Phylis Dean and Joseph Liptow; his siblings, Joe, Dorothy "Sis", Irene and Jim; and his wife Ruth Evelyn Riccardi.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph (Sandi), Mary Jo and Elizabeth Dunlap (Craig); his grandchildren, Michael Lander (Satomi), Emily, James (Missette), Sara and Jacob; his great grandchildren, Masaki and Airi; and his pet Snuggles.
