Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Delano Eugene Wharton (Williamstown, Ohio), born in Saint Joseph, Missouri, who passed away at the age of 84, on February 21, 2020. He was predeceased by: his parents, Zell Manford and Bernadine Yadon Wharton; and his adoptive mother Lila Reynolds Wharton. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Raye Duley Wharton of Williamstown; his children, Vanessa Lynne Herridge (Matthew Lynn) of Williamstown, WV., Heather Lane Ward (James Patrick) of Williamstown, WV. and Grant Eugene Wharton (Shelley Ann) of Williamstown, WV.; his mother-in-law Bessie Duley; and his siblings, Sharon Eckenroth (Barry) of Murrietta, CA., Muriel Askins Jones (John Paul) of Sarasota, FL., Allan, Randall, Versal Wharton and Karen Henman.

I especially feel blessed to have served as a fellow elder at Grand Central. I learned so much from Gene's wisdom, example, and counsel. Allie and I both were immeasurably blessed by his personal and financial support of Christian higher education through OVU. Gene will be greatly missed, but his influence will endure.”
