He was predeceased by: his parents, Domingo Cantu and Juanita Cantu (Rodriguez); his brothers, Guadalupe and George Cantu; and his father-in-law Adam Garcia.
He is survived by: his wife Melba Cantu (Garcia); his son Ryan Garcia (Ashley); his sisters, Isabel, Rosie (Pepe) and Beatrice; his sister-in-law Peggy Cantu; and his mother-in-law Maria Garcia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
